Chemung County Legislator Rodney J. Strange called on the Social Security Administration today to keep the Social Security Office in Chemung County open.

The Department of Government Efficiency  (DOGE) has it scheduled for possible closure in a release on its website. Strange has been working with Congressman Nick Langworthy in an attempt to keep the office open somewhere in Chemung County.

“I understand the lease payment that the federal government has now at the current location is extremely high. We can get a more cost effective lease at another location that will save the taxpayers money, but still have an office in Chemung County,” Strange said.

Strange says he is working with Congressman Nick Langworthy and his senior staff to keep the Chemung County office open for county residents.
