Chemung County Legislator Rodney J. Strange joined his fellow legislators in voting for a resolution asking the Governor and State Legislature to repeal the NY SAFE ACT of 2013.
At its meeting on March 11th, the County Legislature voted unanimously to pass the measure. The NY SAFE ACT of 2013 was passed by the State Legislature and signed into law by the Governor in January.
“I was proud to join my colleagues in opposision to this unconstitutional law,” Strange said. “We must stand together in our strong support of the 2nd Amendment and our right to bear arms.” Strange thanked fellow legislator John Pastrick from the 1st legislative district for bringing this resolution to the Corrections and Law Enforcement Committee which Strange serves. “John’s leadership on this issue was instrumental in getting, not only Chemung County, but county legislatures all over the state to pass resolutions calling for the repeal of this law,” Strange said. “I thank my colleague for spearheading this issue”
The Corrections and Law Enforcement Committee passed the resolution on February 25th to send to the full legislature for a vote.
