In a letter to Committee Members, Chemung County Republican Chairman Rodney J. Strange announced that he would be giving up the chairmanship of the county Republican party effective February 1st.
Strange was elected to the unexpired term of former Chairman Michael Krusen in the Fall of 2013 and he was re-elected four times since.
Along with steering the local party to hundreds of election victories over the past eight years, Strange has been very active on the state level serving in several capacities including as Regional Vice Chair overseeing seven counties in the Southern Hills region of the state for the past six years under former State Chairman Ed Cox and current State Chairman Nicholas Langworthy.
Strange says the main reason for his departure is that his job is done. “In 2013 I had a vision and a list of goals that I wanted to accomplish as Chairman,” Strange said. “With the final item on that agenda being the return of the county clerk’s office to the Republican party and that having been accomplished this past November, It’s time to let someone else to serve in the position,” Strange said.
Strange is a Chemung County Legislator representing the the 15th legislative district and serves as Majority Leader of the legislature.
