STRANGE EXPLAINS VOTE IN EMOTIONAL AND PERSONAL WAY BEFORE VOTE
Chemung County Legisltor Rodney J. Strange has scheduled a community meeting for residents on and off County Route 60 in the Towns of Elmira and Ashland.
The meeting will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 10am at the East Hill Volunteer Fire Department on Jerusalem Hill Road. Chemung County Commissioner of Public Works, Andy Avery will be at the meeting.
County Route 60 has been under construction for the past three years as part of the Interstate 86 transition from State Route 17. County Route 60 was reconstructed from several individual roads that had entrances and exits onto former State Route 17. Bringing it up to interstate status meant an elimination of those entrances and exits. Over the past two years, Strange has spent many days on County Route 60 observing the construction and talking to residents and state DOT officials. Many residents have contacted Strange concerning the construction and how it was being done. Several residents had and continue to have concerns and questions regarding what has been done.
“I want my constituents to have the opportunity to speak directly to our Commissioner of Public Works. It is important for their concerns to be presented to Andy before the county takes possesion of the new County Route 60 from the state,” Strange said. “I want their issues to be addressed.”
