The Chemung County Legislature’s Highway Committee voted at its meeting on July 25th to send a resolution to the full legislature in support of lowering the speed limit on state route 427 in the Town of Ashland, also known as Lower Maple Avenue.
15th District Legislator Rodney J. Strange whose district includes the stretch of roadway that is being looked at told legislators that the state has been asked several times to reduce the speed but this time he is asking the legislature for help.
He believes that the resolution supporting the reduction will add strength to the Town of Ashland’s efforts at lowering the speed limit. The full legislature will vote on the resolution when it meets August 8th.
