At the March 9th meeting of the Chemung County Legislature, we approved the acceptance of a grant for $80,600 from the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services and the NYS Dept. of Taxation and Finance for the Crimes Against Revenue Program (CARP). This allows the county to hire a full time Assistant District Attorney who will be exclusively dedicated to the investigation and prosecution of CARP related crimes such as welfare fraud and fraudulent unemployment claims. The legislature also approved the hiring of the Assistant District Attorney position.
“This grant continues Chemung County’s effort to get tough with fraud against our taxpayers and I am proud to support these efforts,” Said Chemung County Legislator Rodney J. Strange
