Chemung County Executive Thomas J. Santulli recommended the appointment of Legislator Rodney J. Strange to serve on the Board of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chemung County to the Chemung County Legislature earlier this month.
At it’s meeting on January 14th, the legislature approved the recommendation. Strange will serve for a term of two years until December 31, 2014.
“I am very eager to get to work as a board member at Cornell Cooperative Extension”, Strange said. He has been attending meetings since October awaiting formal approval of the legislature. Legislature Chairman Donna L. Draxler suggested Strange’s appointment to Santulli earlier in the fall. “Cornell Cooperative Extension is an important part of our community and I know I can contribute to their mission through my service on the board,” Strange said. “I look forward to working in the community at events that Extension is involved in like the County Fair and Farm-City Day.”
Strange is also excited in a new initiative being developed by Extension called Chemung Volunteer Action Corp. This new program will replace Chemung County RSVP and will involve putting people of all ages in volunteer oportunities that will benefit our community.
