Chemung County Legislator Rodney J. Strange hit the roads to ride with a county snowplow driver during this major winter storm. “It is important for me to learn what a driver goes through to keep our roads safe and clear for our residents,” Strange said.
Strange reported to the Chemung County Highway Department at 3am and was on the road shortly thereafter. He rode with Snowplow orperator Bill Hackett who plows all the county roads in the 15th legislative district. Strange spent 9 hours learning what a snowplow driver does and experienced firsthand the operations of the Highway Department during a major winter storm.
“I have a new and better understanding and an even greater appreciation for the job these men and women do,” Strange said. “We are very lucky to have an amazing group people that work for us here in Chemung County.”
Strange will continue to spend a shift at the Highway Department next year during another winter storm
