Chemung County Executive Chris Moss announced six appointments to the Chemung County Industrial Development Agency on January 8, 2019.  The Chemung County Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA) is a Public Benefit Corporation of the State of New York.  Industrial Development Agencies were formed by a “Special Act” of the New York State Legislature in 1972, and are governed by the New York State Industrial Development Act to provide financial incentives to projects that have a positive economic impact on a community.  The Chemung County IDA was created in 1975 by this special act at the request of the Chemung County Legislature.

The County Executive has appointed five new members and re-appointed one current member.  The appointments take effect immediately and will be forwarded to the Chemung County Legislature for ratification at their next regularly scheduled meeting, The appointments are as follows:

David J. Sheen, Chairman – Chemung County Deputy Executive                                    Dawn H. Burlew – Director of Business Development, Corning Enterprises                        P. Michael Collins – Elmira City Manager                                                                                        Donald J. Kraft Sr. – Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 112 – Elmira, NY, Business Manager  Christina Sonsire – Chemung County Legislature Minority Leader, 7th  District      Rodney J. Strange – Chemung County Legislature Majority Leader, 15th District

Economic development is one of the most important issues facing our county.  I look forward to working with my fellow board members as we seek to bring jobs and industry into Chemung County,” Legislator Strange said.  “I take this awesome responsibility very seriously.”

The appointments were approved by a unanimous vote of the legislature at their regular meeting on January 14th.
