On April 6, 2018, the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 53 Hampton Road, in the Town of Southport. The search warrant was obtained as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale of drugs from the residence. As a result of the search, Deputies seized over one pound of marijuana and concentrated marijuana “wax”, as well as over $11,000 in U.S. Currency. Deputies arrested three occupants at the address.

KYLE J. BOWMAN, 20 years old, was arrested for Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony. BOWMAN was arraigned in the Southport Town Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail on $10,000 cash, $20,000 property bond bail.

RICHARD D. STRAIT, 61 years old, was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. STRAIT was arraigned in the Southport Town Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail on $500 cash, $1,000 property bond bail.

TINA L. STRAIT, 43 years old, was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. STRAIT was released on an appearance ticket.

Chemung County Legislator Rodney J. Strange thanked the Sheriff’s Office for helping to eliminate a drug house in his legislative district.  “The residents on Hampton Road deserve to live in a neighborhood free of this illegal activity,” Strange said. “I am thankful to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, the deputies and other law enforcement who executed the search warrant and made the arrest of these suspects.  We need to ensure the neighborhoods in our county where our citizens live, are safe and secure,” Strange said. “We cannot tolerate this type illegal drug activity to exists in our community.”
